Avian Vets

The Long Island Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic offers expertise and specialized care. The clinic’s veterinarians are well-versed in treating a wide range of species — from African greys to finches — and approach each case with an understanding of avian health. Beyond medical care, the clinic serves as an invaluable resource for bird owners seeking guidance on everything from nutrition to enrichment. Birds are notoriously complex pets, and the clinic’s thoughtful approach reflects a genuine commitment to their well-being. Their clinic is less than 30 minutes from New York City.

Based in the UK, but providing some services on Zoom, Jen of HEART specifically works with animals not often treated at other vets, such as chickens and pigeons. Jen has a flock of rescued pigeons and hens, but works with all species of birds. She is fully insured, DBS cleared, and registered with IAAT (International Association of Animal Therapists). Jen occasionally offers Avian Medicine workshops and classes over zoom, which I highly recommend taking.

The Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine is the only exclusive avian and exotic veterinary hospital in New York City. They provide a customized facility designed to offer exotic pets state-of-the-art medical and surgical care in a calm, dog- and cat-free environment. The clinic’s team specializes in treating a wide range of animals, including birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, small ruminants, and even wildlife kept as pets, such as squirrels and pigeons. For added convenience, the clinic also offers TeleVet services for existing clients, ensuring pet owners can access expert care remotely when needed.
